Getting into the craft business was an accident
for us. An automobile accident that is. In the summer of 1995 Barb
and I were involved in a car accident that crushed Barb's right
wrist. After many operations and months of physical therapy Barb
regained some of the use of her right hand. Not to be held back
by limitations, Barb started using the band saw with her right hand
still in a sling. With practice, she'd actually become quite a sawyer.
A friend invited us to share a booth
at a local craft show and that's all it took. Barb's been a full
time crafter even since. That's when we started Expressions Of Wood.
The spring of 1998 I became full
time with the business. We'd gotten involved with some wholesaling
and had taken on some larger craft shows. I could no longer work
a full time job and keep up with production at home. I'd also been
fortunate enough to become involved with Sandra Malone and her series
of "Season's Best" decorative painting books as a wood
source. The scroll saw was working overtime for sure.
The spring of 1999 we opened our
retail store "Krafts and Klutter." We spent over 6 weeks
putting the store together and in 5 1/2 weeks it was all destroyed
by a fire. Thank goodness for insurance.
The landlord promised reconstruction
by fall so we spent the insurance check purchasing new product for
the store. By September it was obvious that the store would not
be opened for the fall. All this product and no where to go with
it.
That's when we discovered and
the internet. Running as many as 200 auctions a week, we learned
that the internet was a viable solution to our problem.
As our customer list grew, we began
receiving requests for purchases outside of eBay.
Our response to these requests is in the form of this website.
As our customer base continued to grow, we relocated in 2003 to a larger facility and increased our product line to over 1000 items. We continue to add items that our customers request. Our ten years in business has given us the knowledge and experience to be your best source for primitive and country accessories.
Barb and I hope you enjoy browsing
through our website as much as we've enjoyed putting it together.
Our goal is to provide you with the best possible selection available
at a fair price.
If we have not met this goal with
you, our valued customer, please let us know. We welcome all comments
and suggestions, and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jack Wolcott
